Bushranger Hotel (The)
On the Federal Highway between the Hume Hwy turnoff and Lake
"Located just off the Federal Highway and within 40 minutes of Canberra is the historic Bushranger Hotel. Originally built in the 1860s this Australian historical landmark has been sensitively restored and refurbished to provide a perfect combination of modern day amenities with an 1860s atmosphere. It is a beautiful pub that typifies all that is good in the Australian character; it has a friendly and loyal local patronage and established links with numerous clubs, community groups and a stream of repeat business travellers." - Courtesy Publican 2013
The Collector Hotel first opened in 1860 with NSW' second oldest rural license and has seen great times.

Photo submitted by Publican, many thanks.
The Bushies place in history was secured with the infamous shooting of Constable Nelson by bushrangers Ben Hall, Johnny Dunn and John Gilbert in 1865 carried out by Dunn.
The locals tell the story of Ben Hall staying in the Pub overnight and taunting the police on their arrival from his bedroom window before the infamous shooting.
