The patriotic Hotel Alexander
You will note the Eureka Flag on the ceiling and the painting of the Lighthorseman.
The Pub is under new management so it might have changed since Glenn Ryan visited it a few years back.
The mystery is when the pub was built. Its on the site of a wooden pub which burnt down about 1910.
The Publican thinks the new one was put up soon after but some locals think it was just after WW1.
Of note the Pub features in the 1970s short film "A Steam Train Passes" which is big in the train fraternity. For normal people its notable as it was one of the earliest works of Dean Semmler the Aussie cinematographer that won an Oscar for Dances with Wolves. - Dominik.
Cheers Dominik. Does any one have any info an the est date. Thanks - Ed
