Former Star Hotel
Former Star Hotel
Built in 1866, as the Star Hotel by James Fortune, the ex licencee of the Forth & Clyde Hotel. In 1887 the name was changed to the Fire Brigade Hotel until 1903 when the pub was bought by Tooth & Co. and renamed the Star. A verandah was added when the pub was remodelled in 1920.
The Star was closed in 1930 and the licence was transferred the new Star Hotel at 456 Darling Street, Balmain which changed its name to the Cat & Fiddle Hotel in the late 1960's-early 1970's.
