The Rod and Reel was formerly the Empire Hotel. The storm of 1953 which destroyed the Empire which was rebuilt that year as the Rod and Reel Hotel.
The Rod 'n' Reel Hotel in Woodburn on the far North Coast of NSW is a popular stopover for travellers due to its convenient location on the northern New South Wales coast.
10 minutes to Evans Head and 30 minutes to Ballina and 45 minutes to Byron Bay makes the Rod 'n' Reel Hotel an excellent stopover to avoid the hustle and bustle of the busy centres, but still within close proximity.
Situated opposite Woodburn Park on the Richmond River you can enjoy a swim or walk on the river bank. There are terrific kids play facilities available as well. We pride ourselves on being a family orientated hotel with plenty to entertain and a great atmosphere.
