The Brisbane Courier reported on Tuesday 30/10/1928:

HOTEL BURNT AT MACKNADE.
INGHAM, October 29
The Lion Hotel, Macknade, one of the buildings which secured a license when the rush was made about two years ago, and constructed of wood, was burnt to the ground at 4 o'clock this morning. The building had been
erected about l8 months, and within the past few months the license was
transferred from the original holder.
