It was rebuilt at the tramway terminus to provide refreshments for passengers as the Terminus Hotel.
This was the site of The Strathalbyn, the first hotel in the town. Built in 1840 by Donald Gollan, the hotel burnt down in 1867. A new two story hotel was built in 1868 by Richard Hooper and was called the Terminus.
It was rebuilt at the tramway terminus to provide refreshments for passengers as the Terminus Hotel.
It marked the end of the run for Hill & Co coaches and later the end of the Horse Tramway from Port Elliot and Goolwa. National Trust listed.
