Rose & Crown Hotel
"Just a bit of trivia for you, The Rose & Crown Hotel in Guildford is the oldest pub in WA built in 1841
Interestingly in the historic smugglers cellar which has the hand sawn beams with its hand made nails holding up the 800 sq mt 2 storey Pub have beams have markings dating back 1837 .
Which puts it amongst the oldest hotels in Australia it is a traditional Australian Georgian pub with loads of interesting spaces & possibly the best beer garden in Australia nearly 2/3 of an acre
I will attach details & photos for your interest.
The Pub was famous for its tunnel ( now collapsed & closed) that run underground for hundreds of meters to the swan river so the grog smugglers could get their goods up & down to the river with out detection"
